Life-size ballpoint pen drawings take some time.
My older paintings depict fragile structures. The spatial relationships between these forms, and their inability to form connections despite their physical proximity, evoke a sense of human isolation.
My current work marks a shift in medium, but the sense of alienation remains. The ballpoint pen drawings depict interiors that are as common as the medium used to create them. The familiarity of both the medium and the subject creates an intimacy between the viewer and the work that underscores the absence of a human presence. It is in these moments of expectation that an omission is felt most.
I will continue to post recent images of this project's development.
